Ashley McDonough is a trial lawyer with experience in nine jury trials in high-risk cases throughout the country, including obtaining a complete defense verdict in a $20 million case. Ashley's practice focuses on product liability, mass tort, and commercial litigation.
Ashley has been involved in Jones Day's nationwide defense of the Engle progeny smoking and health lawsuits brought against R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. She has experience in many aspects of discovery and trial preparation, including taking expert and fact witness depositions, consulting with and preparing expert witnesses, and managing discovery from the date of filing onward. Ashley has also developed experience in many other aspects of complex commercial litigation, including conducting legal research, drafting motions and response briefs, and post-trial briefing. In addition, Ashley has supervised junior lawyers on litigation matters from the discovery stage through post-trial briefing.
Ashley also had significant responsibilities on a multibillion dollar multidistrict litigation. She took primary drafting responsibilities for Daubert and class certification briefing and prepared the key survey expert for his direct and cross-examinations.
In addition to her products liability work, Ashley has conducted fact investigations in Department of Justice (DOJ) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) matters.
Ashley maintains an active pro bono practice. As part of Jones Day's Border Project, she has drafted briefs for clients seeking asylum and successfully secured a complete dismissal of a client's removal case.
Ashley is a member of the Ohio State and Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Associations.
