Josh Hyland joined our New Lawyers Group (NLG) in 2025. The NLG provides our newest lawyers with the opportunity to gain exposure to different practice areas and lawyering styles before making a commitment to a specific practice. Individuals in the NLG may focus on a particular area of practice, or compare practices, during their first year with Jones Day.
Before joining Jones Day, Josh served in the U.S. Navy as an officer in submarines, deploying aboard the USS ALABAMA (SSBN-731). As a midshipman, he studied abroad in Russia and Ukraine (2011 and 2012). In law school Josh served as student counsel with the Georgetown Law Appellate Litigation Clinic, where he handled two cases before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
