Rob DeLaney joined our New Lawyers Group (NLG) in 2023. The NLG provides our newest lawyers with the opportunity to gain exposure to different practice areas and lawyering styles before making a commitment to a specific practice. Individuals in the NLG may focus on a particular area of practice, or compare practices, during their first year with Jones Day.
During law school, Rob was involved with the University of Illinois' clinic and moot court programs. He successfully represented the State of Illinois in a criminal appeal through the State Appellate Prosecutor Clinic. As a second-year student, he was invited to argue at the University of Illinois' Frederick Green Moot Court Honorary Round. In his third year, he participated in the NYCB National Moot Court Competition, where he won the Region VIII regional round and earned the Region VIII award for Best Oral Advocate, as well as the Anderson Center Seventh Circuit Moot Court Competition, where he placed as a finalist and earned a team award for Best Appellee Brief.
Rob's prior experience includes work in the fields of international development and education. As a Fulbright grantee in Senegal, he completed research on the country's microfinance sector. He later served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Jordan, where he taught English and organized youth development programs.
