Joanne Bush has 15 years of experience counseling and representing employers in all aspects of employment and traditional labor law. She has successfully represented companies in complex wage and hour class and collective actions as well as employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblower, and contract claims. Joanne also has significant experience representing and advising clients in restrictive covenant and trade secret disputes.

Working with clients to establish best practices, avoid litigation, and accomplish corporate goals, Joanne provides strategic advice and day-to-day counseling on a variety of employment compliance issues. She drafts personnel policies, employment agreements, and severance agreements. Joanne also conducts manager training, wage and hour audits, and internal investigations of employee complaints, including sexual harassment. She is described by clients in Chambers USA as "highly knowledgeable and talented and has gone above and beyond to help us through important legal issues swiftly."

Joanne also maintains a robust traditional labor practice. She negotiates collective bargaining agreements, represents employers in labor arbitration, unfair labor practice proceedings, union election and decertification proceedings, and labor litigation and provides strategic advice to companies regarding corporate campaigns, strike and contingency planning, bargaining strategies, interpreting collective bargaining agreements, and bargaining obligations under the National Labor Relations Act. Joanne regularly advises on and negotiates the labor and employment aspects of corporate transactions, with a particular focus on the energy industry.

Joanne leads the Labor & Employment Practice in the Houston Office. She is an editor-in-chief of the PLI Labor Management Law Answer Book and is president of the Harvard Law School Alumni Association of Houston.
