Veteran secures 100% disability rating after years of partial ratings

A team of Jones Day San Diego lawyers recently secured a 100% service-connected disability rating for a local Marine Corps veteran. Honorably discharged in 2020, he had previously obtained incomplete partial ratings for certain conditions, but struggled for years to have the full extent of his injuries recognized by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs ("VA"). The veteran's physical and psychological injuries left him unable to maintain full-time employment, strained his relationships with his wife and small children, and impaired virtually every aspect of daily living. The Jones Day team worked with the veteran to get physical and psychological evaluations and supporting declarations and drafted a letter of support. Based on that submission, the VA increased his disability rating to 100%, retroactive to his last, unsuccessful application before he came to Jones Day. This decision will make an enormous impact on the life of this deserving veteran and his young family.
