Iranian Christian convert obtains relief under the Convention Against Torture

Client(s) Client AD

Our client participated in the 2009 post-election protests in Iran. He was photographed during those protests and summoned to the Revolutionary Court. He fled the country and eventually made his way to the United States, where he eventually found a resolution to his life-long (though secretive) personal struggle with Islam by converting to Christianity. Jones Day was able to obtain withholding of removal based on the Convention Against Torture, which required overcoming some very difficult and complex facts. Our client is very grateful and pleased with the outcome, as he has avoided almost certain arrest and torture the moment he stepped off the plane in Tehran.
