Preston Smith counsels clients on the U.S. federal income tax aspects of complex transactions, including domestic and cross-border M&A, financings, securities offerings, and restructurings. Preston also regularly advises private funds on matters from formation to exit and liquidation, and he works with large multinational corporations in connection with their global tax planning. Additionally, he works with the Firm's litigation lawyers on the tax consequences of judgments and settlements.
Preston works with nonprofit organizations to secure and maintain tax-exempt status and advises on various tax aspects of transactions for tax-exempt clients.
Prior to attending law school, Preston worked as an advisory associate in the Cyber, Risk, & Regulatory group at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Tampa, Florida.
