Lara Clarke's practice focuses on French and European environmental and energy law, with a particular emphasis on regulatory matters. Her dual experience enables her to support clients on environmental and energy issues raised by their industrial activities and energy transition projects.
In regulatory matters, Lara assists French and international clients on both environmental and energy issues. Her environmental practice covers classified facilities for the protection of the environment (ICPE), chemical substances, and product regulation. Her energy practice includes wind and solar energy (in particular self-consumption and solarization obligations), hydrogen (including imports and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism [CBAM]), battery storage, electric vehicle charging stations, and electricity supply.
In transactional matters, Lara works on the environmental and permitting aspects of mergers and acquisitions and financing transactions, including environmental due diligence. She also advises sponsors, investors, and financial institutions on the development, acquisition, and financing of renewable energy projects.
In litigation matters, Lara assists clients in environmental disputes, notably relating to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), climate change, greenwashing, and protected species derogations.
Prior to joining Jones Day in 2023, Lara gained experience working in the Paris office of an international law firm and in the legal department of a multinational energy company.
Lara is a member of the Energy Transition Youth Club (ETYC) and the Infravenir association.
