Daniel Chaney's practice is focused on efficient dispute resolution, particularly in the construction, energy, and resources sectors. He has acted in arbitration, litigation, and adjudication proceedings, including some of the largest disputes in the Asia-Pacific region. He also has considerable experience in assisting clients during projects to resolve issues without the need for formal proceedings.

Daniel has particular experience with large construction disputes, including variation and delay/disruption claims, contract termination issues, and misleading conduct claims, as well as with contractual disputes more broadly. Much of his work is international. He has acted for and against parties in jurisdictions including the United Kingdom, Australia, Spain, Malaysia, Norway, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Italy, China, Korea, Thailand, and the United States. He has worked in Jones Day's London, Perth, and Madrid offices.

Prior to joining Jones Day in 2014, Daniel acted on instructions from the receivers and managers of a major EPC contractor in relation to a series of construction insolvency disputes; advised a global oil and gas major in proceedings against various contractors; acted for major contractors on a range of disputes against principals and subcontractors; provided ongoing project advice for a global port dredging contractor; and advised a construction contractor in the negotiation of a public-private partnership contract.
