Yichen Wu focuses his practice on antitrust and competition law involving merger filing reviews, government investigations and enforcement, antitrust consultation and compliance, and private litigation. Yichen also has represented Chinese clients in major cross-border dispute resolutions and government regulatory matters.
Yichen advises clients on antitrust issues from transaction planning and premerger counseling to multijurisdictional merger filings and in-depth regulatory reviews. He has extensive experience coordinating global regulatory compliance strategies for cross-border transactions and investigations. In the landmark merger between Sinopec and CNAF, Yichen served as the leading counsel for global merger filings and regulatory approvals. He also has represented clients in numerous merger filings in China, including Safran's €8.7 billion tender offer targeting Zodiac's shares, PTT's €4 billion acquisition of Allnex, Gavilon's US$3 billion acquisition by Glencore, and the merger of Valmet and Neles. Yichen represents clients in a broad range of government investigations, from China's national security reviews to regulatory proceedings under overseas regimes, including the EU Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR).
Yichen previously worked in Washington, D.C. and played key roles in cases including China NDRC's investigation against InterDigital and the class action against Chinese Vitamin C manufacturers at the United Sates Circuit Court and Supreme Court. In addition to assisting clients before antitrust enforcement authorities in China, the United States, European Union, Japan, and Korea, his experience includes FCPA (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act) investigations, transactions involving CFIUS (Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States), and other government regulation issues, including export control, economic sanctions, and data security.
Yichen is a member of Beijing's Antitrust Expert Advisory Committee and a frequent speaker at government-organized conferences.
