Bijan Tavakoli's practice focuses on German and European public law. He represents clients in complex regulatory matters before government agencies and in disputes before German and EU courts. He also represents clients in international commercial arbitrations.

Bijan has extensive experience advising companies in the technology, aviation, and energy sectors. He regularly advises clients on telecommunications law matters such as frequency assignments and the technical security of telecommunications, as well as on environmental law matters. He has represented clients in several cases before the European Court of Justice, including high-profile cases in the telecommunications and aviation sectors.

Bijan served for several years as associate legal officer in the United Nations Secretariat in New York, where he provided general legal advice to the UN and represented the UN in multiple UNCITRAL arbitrations. Prior to joining Jones Day, Bijan worked as a research fellow at the Max-Planck-Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law, clerked for the German Foreign Office, and for the German Development Cooperation (GIZ).
