Joe Hsieh's practice focuses on cross-border and local dispute resolution as well as on energy matters.
Joe's experience in dispute resolution includes assisting a European private bank in complex civil and criminal litigation involving multiple Asian jurisdictions, a Hong Kong-based investment bank in lawsuits related to syndicated loans, an internationally renowned credit rating company in a criminal complaint of trademark infringement, a former management team of a listed company at Taiwan Commercial Court in a dispute of the effectiveness of a board resolution, a Taiwanese food conglomerate in civil litigations, and an individual victim in a serious derailment incident in Taiwan. Joe is currently assisting a well-known Taiwanese insurance company in a dispute with an international reinsurance company with regard to its COVID-19 reinsurance program, a local bank in a land purchase dispute, and a former chairman of a financial holding company in administrative litigation in relation to a banking regulation sanction. He also has assisted an international automobile group in a corporate internal investigation focused on antitrust law compliance.
In addition, Joe has experience in assisting clients in the Taiwan energy industry, including providing a legal memorandum regarding potential disputes of overlapping offshore wind farm sites, due diligence in the acquisition of a project company of an offshore wind farm, and legal advice on the legislative advancement and governmental policy regarding renewable energy and offshore wind power development in Taiwan.
Joe has spoken at an energy company seminar in Taipei regarding Taiwan recent offshore wind farm laws and policies. He is a member of the Taipei Bar Association.
