Amanda Fitzsimmons is a technology litigator who represents companies in high-stakes disputes and investigations involving digital platforms, data practices, and emerging technologies. She handles complex litigation and regulatory matters spanning privacy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), and consumer protection, including class actions, Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and state regulatory investigations, and incident-driven disputes.

Her practice includes defending claims involving federal and state privacy statutes, including the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, Stored Communications Act, Video Privacy Protection Act, California Invasion of Privacy Act, Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, and Automated License Plate Reader laws, as well as related statutory and common law claims. She also advises companies responding to cybersecurity incidents and data breaches, helping them navigate parallel litigation, regulatory scrutiny, and business risk.

Before joining Jones Day, Amanda served as head of legal at Salt Security, where she led commercial and privacy functions in a high-growth environment. She also managed significant bet-the-company litigation and regulatory investigations as head of commercial litigation at Coinbase. These in-house roles give her a practical understanding of business risk tolerance, operational constraints, and the need to make fast, informed decisions.

Before her in-house roles, Amanda was a litigation partner at a global law firm, where she defended a Fortune 10 technology company in multiple privacy class actions, including early litigation involving voice-activated technology.

Amanda is a Certified Information Privacy Professional, US (CIPP/US) and AI Governance Professional (AIGP), and a frequent speaker and author on technology-related litigation and regulatory risk.
