Elsa Tritz advises a broad range of clients in the energy (gas, thermal, and renewable), water, and infrastructure sectors in cross-border contexts. She assists with regulatory and governmental matters, project development, and construction documentation, as well as project finance structuring and documentation.
Prior to joining Jones Day in 2025, Elsa spent two years with a pan-African renewable energy developer, where she worked on the development of solar and hydropower projects across the African continent, including in Senegal, Congo, Mauritius, Zambia, and Burkina Faso. This work enhanced her legal experience with a practical understanding of the operational, technical, and financial aspects of project development, which has enabled her to deliver a commercially focused and pragmatic approach aligned with clients' strategic objectives.
Recently, Elsa has advised a major oil and gas group on the establishment and expansion of its renewable energy subsidiary across several African jurisdictions, including Senegal, Tanzania, South Africa, Namibia, Tunisia, Morocco, and The Gambia. Her work on this matter began at the acquisition stage and continues through the integration of operational assets and the development of a growing project portfolio that includes advising on regulatory frameworks, state-related arrangements, EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) and other commercial contracts, and financing structures, particularly in connection with wind and solar projects.
Elsa also advises sovereigns and public entities, particularly in the context of multilateral and international financing, on the structuring and implementation of international tenders.
