Nathaniel Sutton focuses on motions practice and appellate advocacy. Before joining Jones Day in 2025, Nathaniel served as a law clerk to Justice Amy Coney Barrett of the U.S. Supreme Court, Chief Judge William H. Pryor Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and Judge Daniel A. Bress of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Nathaniel has drafted dispositive motions in various trial courts and has briefed appeals before the U.S. Courts of Appeals, state supreme courts, and the U.S. Supreme Court. His experience includes helping defeat a putative ethylene oxide medical monitoring class action in the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico. He drafted motions to dismiss, strike the class allegations, and sever, which together cut a three-facility class of more than 40,000 people down to one plaintiff before that plaintiff voluntarily dismissed the case.
