Hope Schall's practice focuses on serving the needs of domestic and global financial companies, including banks, fintechs, and bank investors, with a focus on prudential and consumer regulatory, transactional, risk management, and supervisory matters. Hope strives to understand clients' strategic and business objectives and provide actionable guidance to help clients achieve those objectives.
Hope brings nearly three decades of financial services and regulatory experience to her practice, including advising regulators on supervisory matters at the Federal Reserve, and counseling large institutions, where she served in senior leadership roles. She has worked tactically with front-line business teams, led enterprise-wide initiatives, and advised executives and boards on their most critical issues. That foundation gives her a deep understanding of what regulators expect and how institutions function, enabling her to effectively and efficiently guide clients.
During her career, which spans GE Capital, Goldman Sachs, Fifth Third Bank, and Comerica Bank, Hope has advised institutions at nearly all stages of maturity, including formation, charter conversion, remediation, acquisition, integration, and organic growth. She has represented companies before the Federal Reserve, OCC (Office of the Comptroller of the Currency), FDIC (Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation), and CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau), as well as state and international regulators, and has helped clients forge respected relationships with these regulators. She counsels clients on an array of matters to determine requirements and risks and find solutions, including examinations, remediations, and enforcement; acquisitions and investments; permissible activities and product development; and governance, risk, and compliance programs.
Clients benefit from Hope's unique dual perspective, having sat on both sides of the regulatory relationship, her long-standing relationships in the industry, and her pragmatic, solution-oriented approach.
