Brian Saulnier is a globally recognized leader in cross-border internal and government-facing investigations, with more than two decades of experience resolving complex, multijurisdictional matters while supporting client business objectives.
Brian's investigations practice covers the full spectrum of subject matters, including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and the False Claims Act. He has conducted internal investigations in more than 30 countries around the world, representing clients before the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and a variety non-U.S. enforcement authorities and regulators.
Just prior to joining Jones Day in 2025, Brian concluded his representation of Seatrium, Ltd. (f.k.a. Sembcorp Marine, Ltd.). During this representation, Brian led the investigation, delivered the voluntary self-reports to the Singaporean and Brazilian authorities, and supported Singaporean and Brazilian counsel in negotiating resolutions — including the first ever Deferred Prosecution Agreement (DPA) in Singapore (currently pending High Court approval) and a first-of-its-kind coordinated resolution between those two countries.
Among Brian's other notable successes prior to joining Jones Day, he led an internal investigation into alleged FCPA violations at a Chinese subsidiary of Nortek, Inc., a U.S. public company. Following the investigation, he and the team guided Nortek through the process of self-reporting the matter to the SEC and the DOJ and then represented the company in the ensuing resolution. Nortek entered into a rare SEC Non-Prosecution Agreement (NPA) and the DOJ announced publicly its decision to decline to prosecute, the first settlement under what was then known as the DOJ FCPA Pilot Program.
