Dr. Sven Rihm is a German and European patent lawyer who has been advising clients for almost 25 years on all aspects of intellectual property law. In addition to decades of experience in obtaining and securing intellectual property rights, he has extensive practical experience in opposition, appeal, and nullity proceedings before the German and European Patent Offices, the Federal Patent Court, and the Unified Patent Court. Sven also advises on matters relating to supplementary protection certificates (SPCs) and prepares freedom-to-operate and due diligence analyses, as well as patent validity opinions.
His academic background enables him to advise clients on all technical aspects in the fields of organic, inorganic, and technical chemistry, as well as on technologies in the fields of life sciences, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Sven practiced at one of Germany's largest law firms and at a small German IP boutique.
Sven is a member of the German Patent Lawyer's Association (PAK), the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (epi), the International Federation of Industrial Property Attorneys (FICPI), and the Association of Intellectual Property Experts (VPP).
