As a seasoned trial lawyer with more than 25 years of experience, Christian Platt handles complicated intellectual property disputes in the courts, arbitral tribunals, and the U.S. Patent Office, including patent infringement, patent validity, trade secret, and licensing disputes. He routinely tries cases before judges and juries, including a first-chair three-week patent trial win resulting in a jury verdict of noninfringement selected by The Daily Journal as a "Top Defense Result" of the year.
Christian represents leading life sciences companies in their most complex patent disputes, including patents covering gene therapy, cell therapy, gene editing, antibodies, plasmids, cell lines, proteomics, liquid biopsy, vaccines, vaccine delivery mechanisms, pharmaceuticals, and transgenic animal models. Christian also handles other technologies, including medical devices, telecommunications, video games, consumer electronics, computer hardware, software, and networking technologies.
Christian has been recognized by numerous legal publications, including The Legal 500 US, where clients describe him as "very professional" who does "a great job presenting [a] case." He has written and spoken extensively on litigation strategy and patent damages. He authored a chapter in Life Sciences Client Strategies (Aspatore, 2007) after the editorial board of Inside the Minds selected him as a leader in intellectual property life sciences law.
Christian has held leadership positions in the American Bar Association Intellectual Property Law Section, including chairing the Patent Litigation and Post-Grant and IPR Committees. He has served on the Board of Governors of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers and is an active member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA).
