Reece McMahon is an experienced litigator, having acted for clients in a broad range of matters, often involving high-value and complex commercial disputes. Reece has acted in disputes in the energy and resources sector, contentious corporate matters, as well as in the building and construction industry.
Reece's practice includes all forms of dispute resolution, including superior court litigation; domestic and international arbitration including under the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), and United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Rules; expert determination; adjudication; and mediation.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Reece's representations included: proceedings in the Supreme Court of New South Wales (NSW) concerning rights of first refusal arrangements in the Australian rail sector; acting for a law firm in defense of Supreme Court of Western Australia (WA) proceedings for negligence arising out of advice provided regarding passenger aircraft agreements; acting for numerous contractors involved in the design and construction of one of the world's largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities; representing a global investment bank and wealth management firm in contested proceedings in the Supreme Court of WA concerning breaches of a deed of release and employment contract by a stock broker; acting on behalf of an Australian Securities Exchange (ASX)-listed electrical contractor in an arbitration concerning claims arising out of the construction of a bauxite mine; and advising an ASX-listed company in various notices issued by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
Reece is a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society, membership of which is by invitation only and recognizes academic excellence, as well as promoting leadership and community service.
