Jason Keehfus is a first chair trial lawyer who has tried dozens of multiweek product liability lawsuits to verdict. He has vast experience defending liability and punitive damages claims in challenging jurisdictions across the country. Jason has successfully taken hundreds of expert and party depositions and has in-depth experience in taking and defending depositions of medical and scientific witnesses across a broad range of disciplines. In 2019, Jason was named "Engle Defense Lawyer of the Year" by Courtroom View Network for his work in obtaining complete defense verdicts in two trials.
Prior to rejoining Jones Day in 2022, Jason was extensively involved in Jones Day's nationwide defense of smoking and health lawsuits brought against R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and in its defense of The Sherwin-Williams Company in lawsuits arising from its manufacture of certain lead pigments.
Jason was also a key trial member in the public nuisance action brought by the attorney general of the state of Rhode Island against Sherwin-Williams and in the defense of Scott v. American Tobacco Co. (Orleans Parish), a statewide class action against Reynolds and its competitors in New Orleans, Louisiana. In addition, Jason participated at the trial of Figueroa Cruz v. R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company (District of Puerto Rico), which resulted in a judgment for Reynolds.
Jason devotes time to providing pro bono legal services. He has worked extensively with the National Veterans Legal Services Program to successfully obtain increases in disability benefits for veterans of the United States Armed Forces. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).
