Nate Ecker is a litigator with experience in cybersecurity incident response, data privacy compliance, and complex commercial disputes. He serves as solo defense counsel for a national credit reporting agency in consumer protection disputes arising under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), handling all aspects of litigation from pleadings through trial. He also litigates complex commercial lawsuits, governance disputes, insurance controversies, and regulatory enforcement actions in federal and state courts.
Nate regularly advises clients on cybersecurity incident response and data privacy matters. He leads forensic investigations for clients in the automotive, health care, manufacturing, technology, and other sectors through all stages of incident response, including advising on regulatory notifications, document review, public disclosures, and remediation. He counsels clients on compliance with state, federal, and international privacy laws, develops and facilitates cybersecurity tabletop exercises, and prepares incident response plans.
Nate maintains an active pro bono practice. He represents clients in immigration proceedings, including asylum and cancellation of removal cases, where he has argued motions and served as trial counsel. He also represents indigent prisoners in civil rights disputes. Nate helps lead the Pittsburgh Start Anew Clinic, which brings together community partners to provide job readiness, financial literacy, and other resources for survivors of human trafficking, domestic violence, and sexual abuse.
Outside of work, Nate coaches the mock trial team at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, teaching law students trial advocacy techniques to help prepare them for careers in litigation.
