Brendan Duffy focuses his practice on appellate advocacy and complex civil litigation. He has drafted briefs filed in courts at every level of the judiciary, including state and federal courts of appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. He has also argued matters in federal district court and multiple courts of appeals, including securing a full reversal in the Seventh Circuit on a statutory issue of first impression.
His work spans a broad range of industries and subject matters, representing leading companies in the energy, industrial manufacturing, automotive, health care, life sciences, and technology sectors. He has handled complex commercial litigation, high-stakes statutory and constitutional disputes, employment and labor matters, and intellectual property litigation, including technology-focused appeals and proceedings before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Brendan served as a law clerk to Justice Amy Coney Barrett of the U.S. Supreme Court. He also completed clerkships on the Seventh and Tenth Circuit Courts of Appeals. Before law school, Brendan was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and worked in Jeonju, South Korea.
