Irene Chang focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation, white collar defense, and internal investigations. Her experience includes leading discovery efforts in federal criminal prosecutions, preparing deposition witnesses in a large-scale antitrust dispute, and counseling companies in cross-border investigations.

Prior to joining Jones Day, Irene was an investigative journalist. As a graduate student, Irene submitted Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and analyzed fire incident data for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's investigative series on deadly electrical fires. The series ultimately won recognition as a finalist for the 2022 Pulitzer Prize in Public Service.

Irene maintains an active pro bono practice through the Firm's Border Project. Most recently, she helped secure the release of a group of Chinese clients seeking habeas relief from immigration detention centers in Laredo, Texas.
