Liam Brodrick advises clients on competition/antitrust, consumer protection, ESG (environmental, social, and governance), and regulatory law matters, with experience spanning high-profile and significant transactions, regulatory investigations, and political inquiries.
Liam regularly assists clients with complex transactions often requiring multijurisdictional merger control. In addition, Liam has experience coordinating responses to statutory notices from a number of regulators (including the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, the Australian Taxation Office, and the Australian Federal Police). Liam also advises clients on appearances before Australian Senate committees and general engagement with Australian regulators — with a focus on providing clear, strategic, efficient, and actionable advice.
Liam has assisted clients in their dealings with overseas regulators and specialist regulators such as the Competition Commission of Singapore and the New Zealand Ministry of Transport (in collaboration with locally registered Jones Day lawyers) and the Crime and Corruption Commission Queensland. His work covers a broad range of sectors, including aviation and aerospace, defense, transport, energy and resources, food, digital platforms and technology, entertainment and media, real estate, and health care.
Liam is an active member of the Law Society of New South Wales as a part of the Young Lawyers Business Law Sub-Committee and is the former editor-in-chief of the Australian National University (ANU) Journal of Law and Technology.
