Sarah Anwar focuses her intellectual property practice on patent and trade secret litigation matters, representing clients in federal district courts in New York and California and in commercial arbitration. Her trade secret practice spans a range of technology-intensive industries arising under the Defend Trade Secrets Act (DTSA), including mechanical engineering of precision calendering equipment for the production of lithium-ion batteries and business process operation software and workflows. Her life sciences practice includes matters pertaining to the Biologics Price Competition and Innovation Act (BPCIA), with a particular focus on monoclonal antibody biosimilar disputes, and patent infringement matters related to droplet digital and quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technologies.
Sarah's work covers the life cycle of complex IP disputes, including pre-lawsuit factual investigation, drafting of pleadings, coordination of fact and expert discovery, discovery motion practice, preparation and second-chairing of fact and expert witness depositions, drafting of dispositive motions, and trial preparation, including drafting of direct and cross-examinations and witness statements for arbitration.
Sarah maintains an active pro bono practice representing unaccompanied immigrant minors in New York Family Court and in related federal immigration proceedings. She has obtained orders of guardianship and secured Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) on behalf of clients in coordination with Kids In Need of Defense (KIND).
