Jacob Aleknavicius' practice covers all aspects of labor and employment, including class and collective action defense, trade secret misappropriation prosecution and defense, restrictive covenants enforcement, counseling employers on all facets of the employer-employee relationship, and traditional labor law litigation and advisement. In his well-rounded practice, Jacob largely works with employers in the following industries: energy infrastructure, technology and artificial intelligence, hospitality, manufacturing, oil and gas, railroad, transportation, private equity, health care, lending, and life sciences.
Jacob's practice centers on employment litigation in federal and state courts and agencies across the United States. Jacob defends employers against class and collective wage and hour actions, trade secret misappropriation actions, representative actions under California's Private Attorneys General Act, misclassification actions, multijurisdictional employee poaching disputes, class actions under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, and discrimination/retaliation actions. In addition, Jacob litigates complex disputes under the Railway Labor Act, defends employers against unfair labor practice charges, and assists with bargaining, strikes/work stoppages, and labor arbitrations.
Jacob regularly counsels employers on noncompete and nonsolicit enforcement, federal and state WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) Act compliance, California Labor Code compliance, joint employer and misclassification risk, federal and state law wage and hour compliance, updates to company policies to account for changes in the law, executive departures, and National Labor Relations Act compliance. Jacob also advises clients on labor and employment issues that arise in multijurisdictional and multimillion dollar corporation transactions, such as mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. As part of his pro bono practice, Jacob counsels local nonprofits on labor and employment aspects of their operations.
