Niyyah Barber represents employers in a variety of complex labor and employment matters. Her experience includes single-plaintiff and class actions involving discrimination, retaliation, and wage-and-hour claims, as well as traditional labor law.
Niyyah's practice spans all phases of litigation in federal and state courts, including pleadings, factual investigation, discovery, motion practice, and mediation. In addition to her litigation practice, Niyyah counsels employers on their policies and practices to help them navigate California's employment laws.
Niyyah maintains an active pro bono practice helping survivors of human trafficking seek vacatur of their criminal records.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Niyyah served as a law clerk on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
