Yan Shen Tan

Yan Shen Tan joined our New Lawyers Group (NLG) in 2025. The NLG provides our newest lawyers with the opportunity to gain exposure to different practice areas and lawyering styles before making a commitment to a specific practice. Individuals in the NLG may focus on a particular area of practice, or compare practices, during their first year with Jones Day.

Prior to joining Jones Day, Yan Shen advised major financial institutions, asset managers, and corporations on complex commercial disputes. His experience includes involvement in representing: a major bank and its directors in defending one of the largest fraud cases ever heard before the English Commercial Court; the government of a East Asian State in an enforcement action; a major bank regarding the English law aspects of the collapse of Greensill Capital; a major restaurant chain in a COVID-19 business interruption insurance claim; and re-insurers in various claims brought by insureds regarding aircraft detained in Russia following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

He also acted in regulatory investigations and enforcement matters involving UK and international authorities, such as His Majesty's Revenue and Customs, the United States Department of Justice, and the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, and advised the directors of a mining company against an attempt by the State to claw back distributed dividends.

In addition, Yan Shen has written on English Court rules regarding the Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2018, crypto fraud, and force majeure.
