Lexi Smith is a trial lawyer who handles high-stakes intellectual property disputes for innovators in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, consumer electronics, agriculture, and other technology-driven industries. Her practice covers the full range of IP and business litigation: patent infringement, trade secret misappropriation, licensing disputes, trademark and copyright infringement, unfair competition, breach of contract, and related business torts. The Los Angeles Business Journal named Lexi to its list of "Top 100 Lawyers of Los Angeles 2026."

Lexi has a strong record at trial and in other evidentiary proceedings. In patent litigation over a method of treating non-small cell lung cancer, she examined several witnesses at a five-day jury trial. The jury deliberated for less than three hours before awarding Jones Day's client more than $100 million. More recently, after a week-long evidentiary hearing, she helped Jones Day's client vacate an ongoing royalty award.

Lexi's work spans every major forum for IP disputes. In arbitration, she obtained a unanimous award for a biotechnology company on claims for breach of a gene therapy license. She has litigated multiple matters involving vaporizing technology in federal district courts, in investigations before the U.S. International Trade Commission, and on appeal at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Lexi is equally skilled at winning decisive results before trial, having recently won summary judgment of both noninfringement and invalidity for a client.

Before becoming a lawyer, Lexi spent four years as a practicing chemical engineer.
