Eric Barbier de La Serre exerce dans tous les domaines du droit de la concurrence, qu’il s’agisse du droit des pratiques anticoncurrentielles, du contrôle des concentrations et de la réglementation en matière d’aides d’État, en droit de l’Union comme en droit français. Il a été impliqué dans de nombreuses procédures de transactions, d'engagements, de mesures provisoires et de sanctions, tant devant la Commission européenne que devant l'Autorité de la concurrence.

Il est en outre intervenu, en conseil et en contentieux, dans des affaires concernant des secteurs hautement réglementés tels que les services financiers, les télécommunications, les médias et l’énergie.

Eric Barbier de La Serre a occupé pendant cinq ans les fonctions de référendaire puis chef de cabinet auprès de M. Bo Vesterdorf, à l'époque président du Tribunal de l'Union. Il dispose donc d'une expérience contentieuse très étendue devant les juridictions de l'Union européenne et intervient régulièrement sur d'autres aspects du droit européen, tels que les questions de marché intérieur.

Éric Barbier de La Serre enseigne le droit européen de la concurrence à l'Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris. Il a rédigé plus de quarante articles de doctrine et cent soixante notes sous arrêt et décision concernant les droits de la concurrence français et européen. Il est en outre membre du Conseil de l'Association des Avocats pratiquant le droit de la concurrence.
