Melissa Schmidt joined our New Lawyers Group (NLG) in 2026. The NLG provides our newest lawyers with the opportunity to gain exposure to different practice areas and lawyering styles before making a commitment to a specific practice. Individuals in the NLG may focus on a particular area of practice, or compare practices, during their first year with Jones Day. Melissa will be concentrating on corporate law and mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Melissa completed her legal traineeship (Referendariat) at the District Court of Giessen, where she gained practical experience in civil law, criminal law, and administrative law, and also served a legal clerkship with a notary and lawyer.
