James Egerton-Vernon cuenta con más de 12 años de experiencia enfocada en arbitraje de inversión y en arbitraje comercial internacional, así como en litigios internacionales. Doblemente calificado como abogado inglés y abogado neoyorquino y con dominio en los idiomas español, portugués y francés, James ha actuado en múltiples arbitrajes en virtud de las normas CIADI, la CNUDMI, la CCI, la LCIA, la SCC y la SIAC en toda una serie de sectores e industrias, incluyendo petróleo, uranio y oro, gas, telecomunicaciones, y proyectos de construcción.

Actualmente, James asesora a varios inversionistas con demandas de arbitraje sobre inversiones de alta cuantía contra Estados de la Comunidad Independientes (Commonwealth of Independent States – CIS) y de América Latina y desempeñó un papel clave sentando importantes precedentes jurídicos sobre las normas de sucesión de tratados. Asesorías anteriores incluyen: clientes con inversiones en el sector petrolero venezolano, tanto en inglés como en español , en sus reclamaciones derivadas de cambios unilaterales en el régimen de hidrocarburos en este país; asesoría a una empresa brasileña en el litigio con una construcción con su socio italiano en el joint-venture; asesoría una empresa de fertilizantes de Kuwait en procedimientos del CIADI (ICSID) contra Egipto; asesoría a una compañía energética de Rumania en procedimientos de la CCI contra un oligarca ruso; asesoría a una empresa energética estadounidense en procedimientos de la CCI contra su co-contratista indio; y asesoría a una empresa española de entretenimiento involucrada en procedimientos de disputa de la LCIA con sede en Madrid.

James está incluido en la lista de árbitro de la Cámara de Comercio portuguesa, fue Presidente Regional para Norteamérica de Young ITA, es miembro de muchas otras asociaciones de arbitraje internacional y anteriormente fue editor adjunto de ICSID Review.
