Cordt-Magnus van Geuns-Rosch's practice focuses on enforcing and defending industrial property rights, particularly patents and trade secrets, with an emphasis on patent litigation before the Unified Patent Court (UPC). He advises clients on pre-dispute strategy and risk mitigation, infringement and revocation proceedings, preliminary injunctions, evidentiary proceedings, and post-judgement enforcement. As a UPC representative, he has represented clients in several divisions of the UPC and the UPC Court of Appeal. He also advises on other areas of intellectual property and competition law. Cordt's practice spans a broad spectrum of sectors, including semiconductors, LEDs (light emitting diodes), mechanical engineering, heavy industry, automotive, and software.
Prior to joining Jones Day in 2025, Cordt was a managing associate at a leading international law firm where he advised clients on complex patent litigation, including UPC proceedings (infringement and revocation) and other cross-border disputes as well as trade secret proceedings, competition law, high-profile IP agreements, and other IP-related matters.
Cordt is a member of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR) and the German Association of Intellectual Property Experts (VPP).
