Bijan Tavakoli ist auf dem Gebiet des öffentlichen Rechts der regulierten Industrien tätig. Daneben liegt sein Fokus auf dem europäischen und deutschen Kartellrecht.

Im Bereich des öffentlichen Rechts vertritt Herr Tavakoli deutsche und internationale Unternehmen gegenüber Regulierungsbehörden, in verwaltungsgerichtlichen Verfahren sowie vor dem EuGH. Er vertritt Telekommunikationsunternehmen in Regulierungsfragen und hat mehrere Anbieter von OTT Diensten in Compliance-Projekten und Datenschutzfragen beraten.

Ein weiterer Tätigkeitsschwerpunkt umfasst die kartellrechtliche Beratung deutscher und internationaler Unternehmen bei Fusionskontrollverfahren, Compliance sowie bei anderen Kartellverfahren vor dem Bundeskartellamt und der Europäischen Kommission.

Herr Tavakoli war mehrere Jahre als Rechtsreferent im Sekretariat der Vereinten Nationen in New York tätig, wo er Schiedsverfahren betreute und die UN in wirtschafts- und völkerrechtlichen Fragen beriet.

Vor seiner Tätigkeit für Jones Day war Herr Tavakoli unter anderem als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter beim Max-Planck-Institut für ausländisches öffentliches Recht und Völkerrecht in Heidelberg tätig sowie bei der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) und beim Auswärtigen Amt.
