Luis López Claver has more than a decade of experience advising on corporate and real estate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, financings, portfolio deals, and investments in nonperforming loans (NPLs) and real estate owned (REO) assets across the hospitality, office, retail, residential, logistics, and data center sectors.

Luis's representative experience prior to joining Jones Day in 2025 includes advising Apollo on the creation of a hotel platform, multiple resort acquisitions, and NPL/REO investments; Cerberus on landmark real estate matters, including the acquisition of BBVA's real estate business and other NPL/REO portfolios; Fortress on the acquisition of a significant hotel portfolio in Spain; and W. P. Carey on the acquisition of one of Spain's largest office building portfolios (70 assets across Andalusia). In addition, he advised Bank of America and Oak Hill Advisors on multiple hotel acquisitions and disposals in Spain; Avenue Europe on the sale to ADIA of a majority stake in a Mallorca hotel portfolio; Activum on the acquisition of Hotel Nobu Barcelona, the sale of the Hard Rock Hotel Madrid, and the sale of two Madrid plots for data center development; Intu on the acquisitions and sales of landmark shopping centers, including Xanadú (Madrid) and Puerto Venecia (Zaragoza); Hyatt on hotel-related corporate matters; and investors such as Pradera and Blackbrook Capital on large retail portfolio transactions, including hypermarkets, shopping galleries, and supermarkets across Spain.

Luis also previously served as the chief legal officer at a Spanish real estate investment trust (REIT), where he focused on high-quality hotel investments in Europe, structured strategic investments and disposals, led negotiations with international operators, and managed financings and capital markets transactions.
