James Hall has extensive experience advising on significant employment, industrial, and work health and safety issues and disputes for major corporations across a range of sectors, including many companies in the resources sector.

James has conducted employment and industrial litigation in various courts and tribunals at state and federal levels, including acting for clients in litigation before the Federal Court of Australia and appeals before the Full Federal Court and the High Court of Australia. Most recently, James has acted for various companies in responding to Same Job Same Pay applications before the Fair Work Commission.

In addition, James routinely provides strategic advice and support in relation to large-scale bargaining disputation and workforce restructuring. He also advises on large underpayment issues and supports corporations with managing sensitive workplace issues, including investigations.

James has considerable experience in managing catastrophic incident response, including incident management, regulator engagement, and defending prosecutions and acting in coronial inquests. James has acted for corporations and individuals in prosecution proceedings involving workplace fatalities and other serious incidents, including acting for major corporations in response to inquiries, including parliamentary inquiries.

James has served as a member of the Queensland Law Society Industrial Committee for more than a decade and has a long-standing, deep commitment to pro bono advice and assistance in the community.
