Lucía Calleja Álvarez focuses her practice on real estate law, advising domestic and international clients on the acquisition, leasing, and financing of real estate assets in Spain.
Lucía has experience assisting on the review and drafting of sale and purchase, lease, and real estate financing agreements and on the negotiation and documentation of real estate transactions. She also collaborates on legal due diligence exercises for real estate transactions and analyses land registry and urban planning documentation in order to verify the legal status of properties. Before joining Jones Day in 2026, Lucía trained in the real estate department of an international law firm in Madrid. She has also worked as a legal analyst at a Spanish development finance institution, where she reviewed and drafted contracts in connection with the financing of Spanish companies' projects abroad, and in the labor law department of a Big Four, where she supported due diligence exercises and employment proceedings.
Lucía studied in the United Kingdom during part of her secondary education. She has also volunteered with the Fundación OXIRIA (a foundation for children with disabilities) and at Boston Children's Hospital.
