David Wreesman's practice focuses on appellate advocacy and complex litigation.

David has drafted briefs before the U.S. Supreme Court, four federal appellate courts, and several federal district and bankruptcy courts. His experience covers a range of substantive and procedural issues, including constitutional law, bankruptcy law, contract law, and criminal procedure.

Prior to attending law school, David directed the English program at a bilingual school in Hanoi, Vietnam. During law school, he participated in successful exoneration and clemency petitions for the Philadelphia District Attorney's Conviction Integrity Unit. He clerked for Judge Stephanos Bibas at the Third Circuit and joined Jones Day in 2023.

  • Secured lenders win victory in Sanchez BankruptcyJones Day obtained a unanimous judgment in favor of the Ad Hoc Group of Senior Secured Noteholders and DIP Lenders (the "Ad Hoc Group") in an appeal following Sanchez Energy Company's long-running, hard-fought bankruptcy case. Once the decision becomes final, it will provide Jones Day's clients with shares of reorganized Sanchez worth approximately $700 million.
  • Labcorp argues before U.S. Supreme Court that all class members must have standingOn behalf of Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings, Jones Day urged the U.S. Supreme Court to overrule a Ninth Circuit decision holding that district courts can certify damages class actions under Rule 23(b)(3) even when the class contains members who lack an Article III injury.
  • Spark Networks obtains chapter 15 recognition of first-ever cross-border restructuring under German StaRUGJones Day represented Spark Networks SE in the first-ever cross-border restructuring under the recently enacted German restructuring law ("StaRUG") and chapter 15 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code involving over $100 million of funded debt issued by a U.S.-based credit fund and guaranteed by other German and U.S. entities.
