Dr. Megan Schwarz is a registered patent agent in Jones Day's Intellectual Property Practice. She focuses on patent prosecution across the life sciences industry, with particular emphasis on antibody-based therapies and other biologics, molecular diagnostics, and vaccines. Megan brings both scientific training and patent experience to the preparation and protection of innovations in these rapidly evolving scientific fields of research.

Megan prepares and prosecutes patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, managing portfolios from initial drafting through allowance. She also helps to coordinate counterpart patent application filings around the world to support clients' global intellectual property strategies. In addition, Megan assists with freedom-to-operate and due diligence analyses, to help clients evaluate risk and make informed decisions about product development and licensing. She works with academic institutions, emerging companies, and established biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies.

Before joining Jones Day, Megan completed her graduate studies at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where her research focused on molecular biology, cancer, immunology, virology, and assay development. This scientific background gives her a strong foundation for understanding the complex technologies underlying client inventions. She has coauthored several peer-reviewed journal articles and reviews.
