Courtenay Nolan advises clients with respect to the complex regulatory environment for employee benefits arrangements, including in the context of mergers and acquisitions, executive transitions, and day-to-day administration and compliance. With a focus on practical approaches, Courtenay counsels clients on the design and implementation of employment agreements, retention agreements, deferred compensation plans, bonus plans, severance plans, separation agreements, qualified retirements plans, and health and welfare benefits.
She also advises clients regarding the compliance of employee benefit plans and arrangements with the Internal Revenue Code, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA), COBRA, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA). Working with colleagues from around the world, Courtenay regularly assists clients with cross-border employee-related issues. Courtenay also has significant experience assisting clients with integrating employee benefit plans following corporate transactions.
Courtenay maintains an active pro bono practice and participates in the Firm's Border Project by providing legal support to asylum clients.
