Lisa Mundos has a broad practice that focuses on high-stakes and complex litigation before state and federal courts. She has deep experience advising global corporates, financial institutions, directors, and Australian Securities Exchange (ASX)-listed clients in relation to major commercial disputes and regulatory enforcement matters across a diverse range of sectors including automotive and transport, life sciences and health care, energy and resources, and technology.
Lisa acts for clients in relation to shareholder and product liability class actions, taxation and contract disputes, AML/CTF (anti-money laundering/counter-terrorist financing) issues, and in significant regulatory investigations involving ASIC (Australian Securities and Investments Commission), ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission), the ATO (Australian Taxation Office), and other authorities, as well as in Royal Commissions of Inquiry and Parliamentary inquiries.
Her recent experience includes acting for Jacobs Group (Australia) on foreign bribery charges in connection with construction contracts in the Philippines and Vietnam, a landmark decision with broad implications for the imposition of penalties under the Commonwealth Criminal Code, and also for Alcoa of Australia in a major victory against the Commissioner of Taxation in a transfer pricing dispute worth US$1 billion.
She has extensively advised on the Australian climate-related financial disclosures regime and other ESG (environmental, social, governance) issues especially as they relate to modern slavery risks and compliance.
