Richard Keys assists clients in complex disputes with the ATO (Australian Taxation Office) and various state revenue offices. He has acted in a wide variety of taxation disputes relating to transfer pricing, the general anti-avoidance rules (Part IVA), capital gains tax, and payroll taxes. Richard has an in-depth understanding of the issues involved in the life cycle of an ATO audit, including organizing responses to substantial formal notices to produce documents and provide information.
Richard also has acted for taxpayers in a number of voluntary disclosures for tax shortfalls and has advised clients on noncontentious matters relating to restructuring and succession planning.
Richard has served as a volunteer lawyer for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness and has assisted in pro bono matters relating to evictions, fines, and infringements.
