Tamara Charlwood is a technology lawyer who advises on strategic and business-critical technology projects and complex commercial procurement transactions for clients across different industries, such as financial services, software, and transport/aviation. These projects span private and public sector engagements and involve advising on matters related to complex software procurement, digital transformation and outsourcing projects, data protection and management (including SaaS [software as a service] and AI [artificial intelligence]), and intellectual property commercialization. Tamara brings valuable in-house insight to her work, having been seconded to the enterprise and technology legal team of a "Big Four" bank in Australia.

Tamara translates complex stakeholder requirements and business or regulatory considerations into clear contractual drafting and strongly negotiated outcomes. Prior to joining Jones Day in 2026, Tamara was a senior associate at a leading national Australian law firm where she negotiated against a large international software vendor with sensitivity to legacy perpetual software licenses, procuring new licenses and the provision of professional services on a long-term basis; support regarding the implementation of a managed investment scheme where interests were represented by semi-fungible tokens on the Ethereum blockchain via an intermediary platform (one of the first Australian MIS [management information system] to do so); negotiation support regarding digital transformation projects of "Contact Center as a Service" (CCaaS) arrangements; advice regarding privacy by design in the implementation of certain government services through web platforms; and advice and contractual arrangements for ownership of data and AI tools for data consulting and professional services firms.
