Thomas De Muynck has nearly 20 years of experience in venture capital, private equity, M&A, and other corporate transactions. He has a particular interest in Japanese clients and Japan-related transactions and in start-ups in the biotech and technology sectors. He has worked in the Firm's Brussels, Tokyo, and New York offices.

Venture capital rounds in which Thomas has had a leading role in recent years include Silverfin (Index Ventures), Anytime (Seventure), Take Eat Easy (Rocket Internet, DN Capital, Piton, and Eight Road Ventures), Collibra (Index Ventures and Dawn Capital), Textmaster (Alven and Serena), Odoo (XAnge and SRIW), and Selinko (INSIDE Secure).

Thomas worked in Japan for several years and developed a particular focus in representing Japanese clients in cross-border acquisitions and compliance matters. He has been involved in projects for the Toyota group, including JVs in Europe and South America, and several EU acquisitions for Astellas, Bridgestone Corporation, and Sumitomo Bakelite. Other Japanese clients include Hino Motors, Konica-Minolta, Pioneer, and Zeon Corporation.

He has represented U.S. companies Aleris, Calgon, Cardinal Health, Diebold, Lubrizol, MasterCard, PepsiCo, The Riverside Company, Textron, and WL Ross & Co. and EU clients such as BNP Paribas, Knauf Insulation, Lagardere Services, SAP, and Total. Belgian representations include BASE, Colruyt, RHJI, and Van Hool and a series of VC-backed companies.

He is a member of the Legal & Tax Committee of the Belgium-Japan Association and a member of the International Bar Association.

Thomas is listed as a leading M&A lawyer in Chambers Global, Chambers Europe, and The Legal 500.
