Stephen Cowen represents individuals and corporations in trials and appeals, complex business and accounting disputes, white-collar defense, and internal corporate and government investigations. As a former senior counsel in The Boeing Company’s law department, he served as the lead lawyer for Boeing’s HorizonX innovation and venture capital unit, managed litigation matters, and led a wide range of internal investigations. He also led the company’s response to various data loss prevention, insider threat, trade secret and proprietary information protection, and other intellectual property or cyber-related matters.

Prior to Boeing, Stephen was in private practice at a law firm in Chicago, where his clients included pharmaceutical, medical device, tech, and manufacturing companies.

As an intelligence officer in the United States Navy Reserve, Stephen deployed to Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom and led a joint military and civilian team in Kabul. Since 2012 he has taught a seminar at the University of Chicago Law School on national security and constitutional law relating to counterintelligence and covert action.
