Raimundo Ortega handles complex antitrust and regulatory matters, with extensive experience in infrastructure and energy. He is the only lawyer in Spain ranked simultaneously in competition and energy by Chambers, Legal 500, and Best Lawyers for seven consecutive years and has been included in the Top 100 Lawyers by Legal Dealmaker in both energy and antitrust. Raimundo was recently appointed by the Spanish Competition Authority (CNMC) as a Non-Governmental Advisor to the International Competition Network. He leads the ESG (environmental, social, and governance) team in the Madrid Office.

For more than 25 years, Raimundo has represented foreign and domestic funds, financial institutions, and infrastructure and energy companies such as Aberdeen, Axpo, Banco Santander, Bombardier, CaixaBank, Cintra, EDF, Endesa, Engie, IBM, Inditex, ILSA, Macquarie, Marubeni, Naturgy, Orange, P&G, Prysmian, KPN, and Total.

He is currently advising on several cartel investigations, including leniency applications before the CNMC and the Supreme Court. He also has extensive experience in merger regulation, including phase 2 transactions with remedies, abuse of dominant position, and private damage actions. He is active in energy infringement procedures and has extensive experience challenging energy regulation before the Supreme Court and the European Commission. He also has experience advising on power purchase agreements (PPAs) and guarantees of origin (GOs) and in foreign direct investment (FDI) screenings.

Raimundo teaches competition law and energy at a variety of academic institutions.
