Since opening in 1986, Jones Day's New York Office has provided a full range of legal services to local, national, and global clients. In three decades, the office has grown from 21 to almost 250 lawyers, making it one of the largest in New York City.

We are of course active and well-known in the New York marketplace, but our New York Office also is seamlessly integrated into Jones Day’s One Firm Worldwide organization. New York attorneys regularly work on deals, restructurings, and litigation with attorneys resident in our other offices. Practice leaders for ten of the Firm's global practices reside in New York, including Banking & Finance (Brett Barragate), Capital Markets (Chris Kelly), Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation (Daniel Hagen), Financial Institutions Litigation & Regulation (Jay Tambe), Labor & Employment (Matthew Lampe), M&A (Bob Profusek), Private Equity (Andrew Levine), Real Estate (Michael Haas), and Securities Litigation & SEC Enforcement (Henry Klehm), and Tax (Edward Kennedy).

Our attorneys provide comprehensive legal services with particular emphasis on transactional matters (including M&A, private equity, capital markets, banking and finance, and real estate); business restructuring; tax; intellectual property; and a full array of litigation and arbitration services in areas such as appellate, labor and employment, general commercial, and products liability. Long before the onset of the credit crisis, our Financial Institutions Litigation & Regulation lawyers were litigating cases, negotiating transactions, and providing regulatory counseling to leading financial institutions related to sophisticated bank products such as CDOs and CDSs.

In addition to delivering the full range of services for our clients, the New York Office is actively engaged in serving the public. Our lawyers participate in New York charitable projects, serve on major non-profit boards here, and provide pro bono legal services to local clients. We counsel clients regarding asylum, criminal appeals, domestic violence, veterans benefits, not-for-profit incorporation, and tax-exempt applications. We serve as regular counsel to local non-profit organizations, including The Doe Fund, the East Harlem School, the American Jewish Committee, Brooklyn Child and Family Services, and several arts organizations. We also participate in non-legal service activities including East Harlem's Cristo Rey student employment program.
