Mauricio Paez advises Jones Day's global clients on cross-border intellectual property and technology commercial transactions, strategic sourcing and outsourcing, and data protection, security, and privacy matters. In addition, he advises clients on the acquisition and disposition of technology assets and intellectual property rights worldwide.

Mauricio's practice is especially strong in multijurisdictional sourcing and outsourcing arrangements. His recent representations involve assisting Nokia Siemens Networks and Nokia Corporation on various multijurisdictional information technology outsourcing arrangements affecting their worldwide operations. His involvement ranges from assisting clients with competitive requests for proposals, multiple vendor negotiations, setting up offshore captive operations, sourcing partnerships, and multijurisdictional outsourcing transactions. In addition, he has significant experience in negotiating outsourcing arrangements for clients in highly regulated industries, such as financial services, health care, and telecommunications.

As a member of the Firm's global privacy team, he advises Fortune 100 companies on legal aspects of current and emerging privacy, security, and data protection law, including the online and offline collection, processing, and sharing of personal information and data. He has assisted clients in developing and implementing worldwide policies and compliance procedures for handling and safeguarding sensitive personal and company information, maintaining and transferring customer and employee information, and regulating relationships with third parties.

Mauricio is a member of the American Bar Association (Business Law and Science and Technology Law Sections), the Hispanic National Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and the New Jersey State Bar Association.
