Luis Riesgo has acted as the principal lawyer on M&A/takeovers, buyouts, restructuring, and private equity transactions in 20 years of practice, including many complex multicountry acquisitions. He is Partner-in-Charge of the Madrid Office and chairs Jones Day's Latin America Practice.

Luis has served as the lead lawyer in a wide variety of high-profile strategic transactions, including: France Telecom in its $7.7 billion acquisition of Amena, then Spain's third largest mobile telecoms company; Orange in its $432 million acquisition of the internet service provider Ya.com from Deutsche Telecom AG; Trader Classified Media on the $742 million sale to Schibsted of its assets across Europe and Latin America; and the acquisition of the jobs site Infojobs by Anuntis Segundamano.

Other companies with which Luis has worked on substantial matters include Dole Food, Electricité de France, ING Bank NV, Lafarge, RHJI International, and Sener Grupo de Ingeniería. His transactional practice spans a range of industries, including aerospace, automotive, energy and renewable energy, electronics, internet media, and telecoms.
